Veneers

Veneers are an effective way to improve the look of your smile, especially if your teeth are stained, discolored, badly shaped, chipped, or crooked. A veneer is a thin piece of porcelain that is placed on the top of your tooth, like a shell designed to cover the front side of your teeth. Made of tooth-colored material, veneers can leave you with a natural-looking, perfect smile.

Veneers are individually sculpted for your smile, so its nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth. Plus, veneers can resist staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco, though we recommended that you avoid excessive exposure to these substances to maintain the beauty of your veneers for the long term.

To prepare your teeth for veneers, Dr. Hennington will create a model of your teeth and send it to the lab where your veneers will be created. When your veneers are ready, Dr. Hennington will remove a small amount of your tooth to make room for the veneer. They are then permanently placed with dental adhesive.

Maintaining porcelain veneers is actually quite simple: Treat them as you would your original teeth, with routine brushing and flossing. Use non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste and be sure to visit our office for your twice-yearly dental cleaning and exam!
